These cards, with their thought-provoking snippets of word assemblies, brief but pithy questions and vivid images, go straight to the creative brain, clicking switches and lighting lights as they process their way into the conscious awareness. They turn on a thought process that often continues. The cards are, indeed, rather like having an exceedingly honest and delightfully clever friend upon whom I can call whenever necessary. They maintain a prominent place in my work space.

Is it Myth or Magic?
‘Avatar’, [now available on dvd], like all films is open to diverse interpretation which for each individual is real and valid. Some perspectives however are so obvious as to be invisible and overlooked.
‘Avatar’ in ancient Sanskrit teachings is a manifestation of something supernatural in an alternative human form. The Na’vis represent just such an ‘avatar’ by living in apparent harmony with their environment and wildlife while having no need to plunder their resources, which if lost would threaten their very existence. They are consciously aware of, and intuitively acknowledge and use (spiritual) energy sources [Awol] that are not yet fully understood. Their existence is so highly natural it could be classed as “Super” natural. Current logic would surely conclude such existence is impossible and simply a ‘myth’? Unless of course it is not, and it is using logic alone that is limiting the outcome.
In direct contrast, the film’s ‘Avatar’ is a manifestation in reverse, a transformation through technology, of our human form to that of the more “Super” natural Na’vis. International, economic and cultural development is driven by logic and technological innovation at a time when scientific discovery and creativity have never been more evident. In the film this advanced knowledge enables transformation to the more balanced existence! Yet, the prevailing human mentality is what leads to destruction. This surely defies logic. At the very least it should challenge current trends in thinking.
In this clash of cultures the outcome is not what facts would predict. The outcome is unexpected and success arises sparked by a single individual’s decision fuelled by acknowledging personal feelings of what really matters.
This is leadership 2010 style – simply an honest heartfelt decision. The quality of such decision is sufficient to spark a similar yet critical mass reaction by others which is overwhelming. In this decade the power lies with such personal choice, irrespective of national boundaries or economic interest. The result will not simply be outstanding, it will be magic.
